Interview with Emily of Warpaint….

C: Warpaint’s official “stars” video was just released a little ago how was the process for you and where was the woods scene shot? beautiful by the way.

E: Thanks. it was shot deep in the angeles national forest right after it had burned. it was very desolate and trippy out there, on my birthday. The process was just to have fun and be ourselves.

C: Should we expect anything soon from warpaint?

E: We are going to record in Portland next month to make our LP. If anyone knows of a nice house for us to rent up there for two months let us know! That should be coming out in the late spring. We also have a tour with akron/family at the end of February.

C: What is the meaning behind that song “billie holiday” and would you say you can relate to holiday’s personality, past, or how she sings about her menz?

E: There isn’t a lot behind the song. The billie holiday part came from me spelling her name looking at a poster of her in our practice room. She influences us, as do many other artists for her fearless self expression..

C: If you could describe your position in warpaint in one sentence/or word…

E: Lotus.

C: Lastly, whats the best/or worst you’ve experienced from an audience member?

E: Yes, when anyone dances, i love that.
